Food Fête’s Health & Wellness Media Event (Spring 2013) is a wonderful intro to healthy snacking and highlighted great alternatives that are growing in popularity, and deservedly so. I gravitated to the So Delicious Dairy Free table because I love milk but not the notorious complications associated with it e.g. lactose intolerance. The Chocolate Coconut Milk and the Almond Milk I sampled were unparalleled in taste to regular whole milk – my taste buds were tantalized. Just for trying their
products I was given two VIP coupons for any So Delicious Dairy Free item good at my local supermarket.
Better Bean Co. offered samples of Cuban Black Beans, Three Sisters Chili, Uncanny Refried Black Beans, Wholly Chipotle Bean Dip, and Rethought Red Beans that offered variety and innovation in preparation. The Cherry Man table had maraschino cherries on top of cupcakes which are a perfect way to eat them since I love cupcakes.
The Enjoylife table had a great Cherry Cobbler Bar sample which I found to be a great treat and tasted awesome. Sneaky Snacks featured a new product called White Cheddar Baked Super Puffs – these were crunchy, super fun and delicious all in one bag. Stonyfield Organic gave me a Greek Yogurt Strawberry Flavor that I still rave about. Applegate Organic and Natural Meat gave me a coupon for a free meat product that tasted perfectly made.
Manitoba Harvest Hemp Foods gave me hemp hearts (raw shelled hemp seeds) – I know from previous experience with this product that the wonderful nutty taste is a healthy addition to Thai noodles. Pacific Foods brought an Organic Spicy Black Bean and Kale Soup – If those ingredients sound hearty and comforting, let me tell you – it was! 🙂 The Chia Co. let me try their Australian grown Chia Shots 10 pack featuring omega 3 and always beneficial dietary fiber, protein, plus antioxidants.
The Republic of Tea is a leading purveyor of premium teas. I tried their Burning Herb Tea for Metabolism and in my opinion it’s conducive to an effective workout. Traditional Medicinals Wellness Teas gifted me with samples of Organic Roasted Dandelion Root tea, Naturally Caffeine Free Herbal tea, Organic Peppermint tea and Organic Ginger tea that aids and promotes healthy digestion. You can feel quite cultured and smart drinking these teas, but honestly they’re down to earth and can be enjoyed by anyone. Barbara’s had samples of Organic Snackimals Cereal and Puffins Cereal. Other flavors from Barbara’s included Cinnamon Crunch and Vanilla Blast.
One Degree Organic Foods makes organic breads featuring Ancient Whole Wheat, Flax and Spelt, Lentil Grain, and Sesame Sunflower – If you’re into healthy eating, look into this brand. A nice surprise was learning the company Green Mountain Coffee has a Wellness Collection – I received samples of really delicious coffees and teas. This was a cool gala for body, taste buds and soul! Oh yes, and for learning too. Great event!
